Dodge takes Muscle Cars back to their Roots.
I know its the twenty-first century and everything, but Dallas Dodge Dealers has one or two on their lot that take you back to the original Muscle Car days. The new 2010 Challenger and 2010 Charger Definitely have a body style that has got the original Muscle Car look on a new age Hot Rod. I know what your thinking. They don’t compare to the power and engine performance of the Muscle Cars’ back in their ”Hay-Day”. But let me correct you. Although, both of these new cars have 23-26 miles per gallon on the highway. That efficiency is being put forth by a 5.7 liter Hemi-Head V8 that will still pump out 368 horsies and 395 foot pounds of torque. For the real Hot Rod Mad man there
‘s also the optional 6.1 liter Hemi Head V8, with some “Titanic” 425 stampeeding thorough-bred horse power and 420 foot pounds of Torque. And although the big engine only gets 19-22 mpg highway its a heck of a lot better than its older brothers. That, my friend, would have given any of the boys from back in the day a run for their money. If not, it would definitely take that wad of cash all the way to the bank. Its cars like these that have put the catagory Muscle Car BACK in the reviews.
The new Muscle Cars floating around on the Lot at Executive Dodge Jeep are not so old fashioned on the inside though. The Challenger and Charger do have a standard 4 speed automatic transmission, change it over to the R/T model and it comes with a 5 or 6 speed AutoStick. Thats test drivers report work very nice in the automatic or manual settings. The AutoStick tranny also comes with some other new age features like: hill start assist and pistol grip shifter. They are lacking in one or two tranny short-coming when compared to its competition. The “tapshift” optional with the Camaro, or maybe some shifter paddles would help in the ga
dgets race. If all this is a little much for you maybe a nice Sedan or Pickup from Birmingham Buick GMC would suite you a little better. The interiors are nice and if you upgrade to the
R/T or the SRT8, there’s optional carbon fiber and chrome to jazz things up a bit.
These new Hot Rods are definitely someting to keep your eyes on now and in years to come. So get off of your butt and give one of these a test-drive. If Muscle Cars are what your into, then the new Dodges should make you happy in more than one way.
